Non-discrimination

The policy

The Lu Memorial Foundation does not discriminate on the basis of race, colour, religion, national or ethnic origin, shared ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, citizenship or immigration status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law. We also prohibit harassment and retaliation.

This applies to selecting recipients, to how we handle applications and questions about them, and to how we work with staff, readers, board members, and volunteers.

What this means in selection

You do not need United States citizenship or immigration status to apply, and we never ask for a government identification number. We do not require a minimum grade average and we do not accept test scores. Where you go to school does not raise or lower your chances. What we read is set out on the how we read an application page, and what we ask about your circumstances is set out in our privacy policy.

Accommodations

If a disability makes any part of applying difficult, write to scholarship@lu-memorial.org and tell us what would help. We will work out an accommodation with you. Asking for one does not affect how your application is read. If the barrier is on this website rather than in the application, the accessibility page says where to report it.

Reporting discrimination

If you believe you have experienced or witnessed discrimination, harassment, or retaliation in connection with this scholarship, write to contact@lu-memorial.org. Tell us what happened, when, and who was involved, as far as you know it.

We acknowledge every report in writing. We look into it, we keep it to the people who need to know, and we tell you what we decided. Reporting in good faith does not affect your application or your award, and we do not tolerate retaliation for making a report.
