Selection data

How many people applied, how many awards we made, and what each figure counts.

The scholarship is hard to win, and we would rather you knew that before you spend an evening on an application. In the 2025-26 selection cycle we read 1,635 applications and made 17 awards, an offer rate of 1.04%.

Reliable figures, clearly defined, help applicants and families understand a very selective process. Selection data is also easy to overread, so each release says what every number counts.

How to read these figures

No single part of an application decides an award. The committee reads grades and course rigor alongside what you write, what your recommender says, and the circumstances your record was made in. That reading selects finalists. Finalists are interviewed, and the interview is part of deciding who receives the award.

We read a record against the opportunities behind it: the school, the family responsibilities and the resources an applicant had while making it.

We select a very small number of people each round. A figure can move a long way between rounds without anything about the review having changed.

These statistics describe outcomes. They are not thresholds, formulas or guarantees. What we read sets out what counts and in what order.
